Third Open Call for NGO Fund Project Proposals Launched

The third open call for proposals for the Fund for Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO Fund) was launched on Thursday, July 24, proposals should be submitted by September 22 at the latest.

The second open call for proposals ended at April 22. As a result of the second open call of the NGO Fund, Open Estonia Foundation received 145 applications, from which the board of the foundation decided to support 18 small and 13 large projects.

NGO Fund supports the initiatives of Estonian NGOs aimed at capacity building of the third sector organizations in Estonia, such as improving leadership and strategy development, strengthening cooperation, networks and coalitions, involving more people in decision making and participation, introducing community services, improving the legitimacy of civil society organizations and evaluating trends in civil society development.

Project proposals can be submitted in two sub-categories:

- Grants for small projects range between 20 000-100 000 kroons, duration up to 12 months.

- Grants for large projects range between 100 000-500 000 kroons, duration up to 24 months.

NGO Fund accepts applications from three priority areas: democracy and civil society development; environment and sustainable development; social integration and local development.

The fourth open call will have a deadline in January, 2008. The support of EEA and Norwegian financial mechanisms to Estonian NGOs is intermediated by Open Estonia Foundation.
