Call for WORKSHOP PROPOSALS
The CIVICUS World Assembly 2007
“Acting Together for a Just World”
May 23- 27, 2007, Glasgow, Scotland
CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation invites interested CIVICUS members, partners and other civil society organisations, governments, media, business and donor organisations to submit proposals for workshops to be presented at the CIVICUS World Assembly, May 23 – 27, 2007 in Glasgow, Scotland.
The CIVICUS World Assembly serves as a primary venue for civil society practitioners, researchers, activists, concerned business leaders and representatives from government and development agencies to share ideas and experiences on strengthening citizen participation. Past World Assemblies have increased visibility for the civil society sector through heightened media interest, participation by a broad range of civil society organisations and new alliances forged with business and government and the world. In order to strengthen these alliances, the CIVICUS World Assembly is broadening its reach by inviting sectors outside of civil society to participate in the assembly and engage each other under the over arching theme of Acting Together for a Just World.
Deadline
The deadline for receipt of workshop proposals is 20 December 2006. Notification of proposal status will be provided by the end of January 2007. If your application is accepted, you will also receive an indication of the likely date and the time of your event, although these may be subject to change. CIVICUS will also work with you to finalise the details of the session.
Registration
You will be required to register on-line at: www.civicusassembly.org either before or after you submit your proposal. Please note that every presenter, leader, moderator or facilitator in your workshop must register to attend the World Assembly. There are a limited number of bursaries available to assist presenters from OECD-DAC recipient countries. Kindly check the website for more details.
All workshops will be promoted through the World Assembly programme brochure, the World Assembly website (www.civicusassembly.org) and the CIVICUS website (www.civicus.org). Participants and delegates are encouraged to use the information available via the World Assembly website to facilitate online exchanges in advance of the event.
